SUMMER CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Week 1: June 15 - June 19 (no camp 6/19 in observance of Juneteenth)

​

Regular Camp: Fun in the Sun! (Ages 2 - 7) (9-1pm OR 9-3pm)

Our first week of camp is a celebration bursting with creative crafts, refreshing water play, and endless fun, perfect for embracing the of the season. Join us for a spirited summer kickoff! Come with old friends, and make some new ones!

Specialty Camps (Ages 4 - 7)

Fashion Camp *9am - 3pm*

Watch out New York, Paris & Milan, because Fashion is coming to West LA this summer! Over the course of the week, our budding young designers will explore fashions inspired by the summer season. They will have the opportunity to express all their creativity through design, cutting, sewing and embellishing. The session will culminate in a show-stopping runway on Thursday, June 18 th

at 2:30pm where each designer will be able to showcase their unique collections! We hope to see you at the front row!

STEAM: Coding & Robotics *9am - 3pm*

Little engineers will work alongside Mr. Eric, our S.T.E.A.M Coordinator, to explore the fascinating world of coding and robotics through hands-on activities, building simple robots, and engaging in fun programming challenges tailored just for preschoolers. Get ready for a week filled with innovation, creativity, and endless opportunities for young minds to discover the wonders of technology!

Week 2: June 22 - June 26

Regular Camp: Ocean Adventure (Ages 2 - 7) (9-1pm OR 9-3pm)

Set sail for a magical week beneath the waves! Campers will explore ocean life through hands-on art, storytelling, and imaginative play - diving into coral reefs, discovering tide pool creatures, and even searching for buried treasure. From playful dolphins to mysterious mermaids, each day science, creativity, and wonder as we celebrate the beauty and mystery of the sea.

Specialty Camps (Ages 4 - 7)

MPS Scouts *9am - 3pm*

Calling all curious explorers! In this adventurous week of outdoor play and skill-building, MPS Scouts will earn

“badges” as they cook, build forts, do crafts follow simple maps, learn basic first aid, and practice teamwork through fun, hands-on challenges. With nature as our guide and our imaginations leading the way, children will build confidence, cooperation, and a love for the great outdoors - all while having tons of summer fun!

STEAM: MPS Architects *9am - 3pm*

Put on your hard hats and grab your blueprints - it’s time to build big dreams! In this exciting week of hands-on design and construction, campers will step into the world of architecture as they sketch plans, explore shapes and structures, and create everything from cardboard towers to collaborative forts. Using a variety of tools and materials, our young architects will work together to bring their ideas to life - one block, beam, and box at a time!

Week 3: June 29 - July 3 (no camp 7/3 in observance of the Fourth of July)

Regular Camp: Wizarding World (Ages 2 - 7) (9-1pm OR 9-3pm)

Wands at the ready! Step into a world of wonder where potions bubble, magical creatures roam, and imaginations take flight. Throughout the week, campers will mix colorful “spells,” create their own wizard hats and wands, and explore enchanting sensory play inspired by the world of magic. Whether soaring on broomsticks or decoding secret scrolls, young witches and wizards will delight in a week full of creativity, curiosity, and sparkly surprises!

Specialty Camps (Ages 4 - 7)

Artist in Residence *9am - 3pm*

Attention artists! Embark on a historical journey with us as we explore famous masterpieces, learn about renowned artists, and unleash our creativity through different art mediums. Join us for a week of colorful exploration, self-expression, and endless fun as we inspire young minds to embrace their individuality and appreciate the beauty of all types of art!

STEAM: Puppet Studio *9am - 3pm*

From cardboard critters to shadowy silhouettes, children will bring their imaginations to life in this creative and hands-on week of puppet-making and storytelling. Campers will explore a variety of puppet styles, including sock, stick, shadow, and hand puppets - using open-ended materials and simple construction techniques. As young makers, they’ll build characters, invent stories, and collaborate on mini performances. The week culminates in a joyful

puppet show where their creations take center stage!

Week 4: July 6 - July 10

Regular Camp: Space is the Place (Ages 2 - 7) (9-1pm OR 9-3pm)

Take part in an interstellar adventure through the cosmos! Scientists and Astronauts will work on building rockets, identifying star constellations and planets, and conducting experiments. Hop on the MPS Shuttle for a magical journey through the galaxy and see what magical discoveries await us!

Specialty Camps (Ages 4 - 7)

Animation Camp *9am - 3pm*

Lights, camera… imagination! In this exciting week of storytelling and technology, campers will dive into the creative world of stop-motion animation. Our animators will bring their ideas to life one frame at a time - building sets, designing characters, and capturing short scenes with the help of our skilled MPS teachers. From silly stories to epic adventures, the week will culminate in a showcase of each child’s animated masterpiece!

STEAM: Marvelous Machines *9am - 3pm*

Get ready to tinker, turn, and test! In this exciting week of discovery, campers will explore the fascinating world of simple machines - from pulleys and levers to ramps and gears. Through playful challenges and hands-on building, children will investigate how things move, lift, roll, and spin. Using loose parts, real tools (with support!), and loads of imagination, our young engineers will design marvelous contraptions that solve problems, spark curiosity, and inspire awe.

Week 5: July 13 - July 17

​

Regular Camp: Superhero Academy (Ages 2 - 7) (9-1pm OR 9-3pm)

Capes on and kindness ready! At Superhero Academy, campers will invent their own superhero personas, complete playful missions, and explore what it means to be strong, brave, and helpful. Through obstacle courses, costume-making, and team challenges, children will build confidence, cooperation, and compassion, because every great superhero knows that helping others is the greatest superpower of all!

Specialty Camps (Ages 4 - 7)

Theatre Camp *9am - 3pm*

Join us as we journey into the world of theatre! Through storytelling, music, and creative play, young performers will ignite their passion for the stage and shine in a nurturing and expressive environment. Our little actors will collaborate on background settings, costumes, and more in preparation for a culminating play on Friday, July 17th at 2:30pm.

STEAM: On the Move *9am - 3pm*

Vroom, zoom, roll, and race! In this high-energy week of motion and mechanics, campers will explore how things move by designing and building their own simple machines, like cardboard cars, rolling ramps, and spinning tops. Using wheels, axles, recycled materials, and a big dose of imagination, children will test their creations, make predictions, and discover what makes things go faster, farther, or in a brand-new direction. It’s a week full of building, problem-solving, and nonstop movement!

Week 6: July 20 - July 24

Regular Camp: Camp MPS (Ages 2 - 7) (9-1pm OR 9-3pm)

Get ready for a week of classic camp fun - MPS style! At Camp MPS, campers will gather 'round pretend campfires, pitch play tents, go on nature-inspired scavenger hunts, and sing silly camp songs with friends. From making s’mores-inspired snacks to building forts and creating camp badges, this week celebrates the joy of summer camping and the magic of the great outdoors, all from the comfort of our own Outdoor Classroom.

Step into a world of shimmer and shadow! In this illuminating week of exploration, campers will experiment with flashlights, sunlight, colored gels, and translucent materials to discover how light moves, bends, and transforms. We’ll create shadow puppets, build light boxes, and explore how colors mix and change when light shines through them. With a blend of science, storytelling, and sensory play, this camp is sure to spark curiosity and wonder at every turn.

Week 7: July 27 - July 31

Regular Camp: Animal Explorers (Ages 2 - 7) (9-1pm OR 9-3pm)

Roar, hop, slither, and soar! This week, our young animal explorers will travel through jungles, oceans, forests, and deserts as they discover creatures big and small from around the world. Through hands-on art, movement games, storytelling, and sensory play, children will learn about animal habitats, behaviors, and sounds - all while pretending to be their favorite wild friends. Get ready for a wildly fun adventure!

STEAM: Tinkering Time *9am - 3pm*

It’s time to tinker, test, and try again! In this open-ended week of invention and exploration, campers will dive into the world of loose parts, real tools (with support!), and upcycled materials to build creations limited only by their imaginations. Whether designing gadgets, making mini structures, or solving playful design challenges, children will work both independently and collaboratively as they experiment, build, and discover how things come together - and come apart!

Week 8: August 3 - August 7

Regular Camp: Inventor’s Workshop (Ages 2 - 7) (9-1pm OR 9-3pm)

Campers will unleash their creativity and innovation as they jump into a world of tinkering, designing, and problem-solving. From constructing ingenious gadgets to engineering wacky contraptions, this week-long adventure promises endless opportunities for creation and discovery - the ultimate playground for all budding inventors!

Specialty Camps (Ages 4 - 7)

Kindergarten Readiness *9am - 3pm*

Join Mr. Xochil, our Extended Day (TK) expert to concentrate on focused work and learning opportunities that assist

with the transition into Kindergarten and a new school setting! We will build strong foundations and improve skills in everything from handwriting to self-help and organization.

STEAM: Carnival Creators *9am - 3pm*

Step right up - it’s time to build the carnival of your dreams! In this playful week of tinkering and teamwork, campers will design and construct their very own carnival games using cardboard, tape, tubes, and recycled materials. From ring tosses and marble runs to ball drops and bean bag targets, children will test, refine, and celebrate their creations. The week ends with a joyful mini carnival where campers become both the engineers and the entertainers!
